Treatment foster care

Treatment foster care is designed to meet the needs of children who require specialized services beyond the scope of general foster care. This higher level of foster care provides vulnerable children with connections and resources they need to thrive.

Children living in treatment foster homes have a variety of specialized needs ranging from moderate to significant. These may include: trauma histories such as abuse, neglect and witnessing domestic violence; emotional and behavioral disorders; complex medical needs; or developmental and cognitive delays. Our program is uniquely positioned to access services with Children’s Wisconsin and specialty clinic staff in communities throughout Wisconsin.

The children range in age from birth to young adult and come from diverse backgrounds. Most children in treatment homes attend daycare and school, participate in activities and therapies, and still have connections and visits with biological family. Keeping siblings placed together is a goal whenever possible.

As a treatment foster parent, you will not be alone on the journey, but rather part of the professional team. We will provide you involved, quality support from our staff, specialized training opportunities, virtual groups to keep you connected and much more.

We encourage you to contact a region nearest you to learn more about the Children’s treatment foster care program.
