Private Duty Nursing

Private Duty Nursing

This website is a means of communicating private duty nursing needs of Children's Wisconsin patients to independent providers and home health agencies. All available private duty nursing providers are encouraged to check this website often for a list of jobs available (scroll down to find a list of children by location). Independent providers must be RNs or LPNs who have received a Wisconsin Medicaid provider number. Consent has been obtained from the child's parent to share information with interested providers.

For more information about becoming an independent nurse provider, visit www.wisconsinphp.org.

Access the Wisconsin handbook for nurses in independent practice and follow the steps below:

  • Scroll to Policy section, near the bottom of the page
  • Select Online Handbooks
  • Review and accept/submit agreement to look at  provider online handbooks
  • Choose “Provider” in the selection dropdown box
  • Under “Choose a program” select Badger Care Plus & Medicaid
  • Under “Choose a service area” select Nurses in Independent Practice

A reminder, respiratory care services classes are required for independent nurses providing care to children on ventilators. Classes are also open to respiratory therapists and agency nurses.

Pediatric ventilator certification and recertification courses are held MONTHLY at Children's Wisconsin. Pre-registration is required. The certification course requires online study and post test prior to attending the skills class. For information about classes, please visit https://www.maxishare.com/conferences-and-training/

If you are an independent private duty nurse and interested in caring for a child, fill out the online independent nurse application.
