Imaging is a way to take detailed pictures of the inside of the body. These pictures can show bones, organs, muscles and other structures. These images help doctors learn about your child’s health and help guide diagnosis and treatment.
We offer many types of imaging, each designed for a specific purpose:
- Computed tomography (CT) scan: Uses X-rays and a computer. It creates detailed cross-sectional images of the body.
- EOS low-dose radiation scanner: A standing X-ray system that uses much less radiation. We use it for scoliosis and orthopedic imaging.
- Fluoroscopy: A real-time moving X-ray. It helps us see how organs work during certain procedures.
- Interventional radiology: Less invasive procedures done with imaging guidance. They can treat or diagnose conditions.
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI): Uses strong magnets and radio waves. Creates highly detailed images, especially of soft tissues.
- Nuclear medicine: Scans that use a small amount of radioactive material. They often look at organ function and structure.
- Ultrasound: Uses sound waves to make images. This is often used during pregnancy. It lets us see soft tissues and blood vessels.
- X-ray: A quick, painless way to look at bones, lungs and other areas.
