A New Option for Kids with Down Syndrome and Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
Children's Wisconsin recently became the first center in the Midwest to implant the newest generation of the Inspire hypoglossal nerve stimulator in a pediatric patient with Down syndrome.
The device is FDA-approved for adolescents 13 and up with CPAP-resistant OSA, and it’s now part of a broader multidisciplinary approach to offering alternatives to CPAP. This approach focuses on carefully selecting patients based on qualifying criteria as well as drug-induced sleep endoscopy to pinpoint exactly where the airway is collapsing.
Read more about how the Alternatives to CPAP Program is evaluating candidates and whether your patients might qualify.
