Children's Wisconsin is the region's only independent health care system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. We are committed to teaching the next generation of health care practitioners but recognize that there are a limited number of student slots available.

To better support our academic partners and ensure equitable access to clinical learning opportunities, Children’s Wisconsin Primary Care (Children’s Medical Group and Children’s Urgent Care) and Children’s Wisconsin Specialty Group is implementing a centralized APP clinical placement request process for NP and PA students.

Submitting a request does not guarantee placement. Placement depends on preceptor availability, site capacity, and completion of onboarding and compliance requirements.

An affiliation agreement and program agreement with Children's Wisconsin (or Children's Hospital Health System) are required prior to student placement.

If your institution is not affiliated, you will not be eligible to apply. We are not creating new affiliation agreements at this time.

Please note: Psychiatry placements may have different deadlines (1 month prior). Please confirm with your coordinator.

• Submit your request through our online application form.
• Applications must be submitted even if a preceptor has already agreed to take a student.
• Do not contact preceptors or sites directly.
• Include the following in your application:

  • Clinical rotation details
  • Course objectives
