Instructions for Lab Draws in Suspected Measles Cases

Your child may have an infection which can spread fast and easily to others. It can make people very sick. Your child needs a blood test to see if they have this infection. The test will be done in a space, away from other children and families to keep them safe.
What Do You Need To Do Right Now:
- Call Children’s Wisconsin admitting at 414-266-2102. Let them know you are bringing your child in for a measles blood test.

- Drive to Children’s Wisconsin Milwaukee Campus. Follow the signs for Children’s Emergency Department parking.
- Park in the surface parking lot at the Emergency Department.
- Call 414-266-2102 to let us know you are here.
- Wait until we tell you that you can come in with your child. Do not enter the main Emergency Department doors.
- Walk to the door labeled W9. It is on the front of the building.
- A care team member will let you and your child inside for the test. They will be wearing special clothing to protect themselves and others from getting sick. This may include a mask, gown, gloves, glasses, and a hat.
