Help Give Kids the Voice They Deserve

When you join the Children's Advocacy Network (CAN), you become a powerful force for children's health and well-being. We keep you up-to-date on what Children's Wisconsin is doing to support children and families and provide you with actionable ways to get involved.

Why Advocate?

Public policy directly affects children's access to high-quality health care, safety in the community, and mental health resources. It takes less than a handful of calls or letters to get a legislator's attention. Elected officials care about their constituents and need to hear from you to understand the issues that matter. A single powerful connection can make a real difference!

As an advocate, you will:

  • Receive updates on our policy work and activities.
  • Learn about opportunities to contact your local, state, and federal lawmakers.
  • Be asked to participate in community events.

"I feel a responsibility to advocate on behalf of kids to make sure we keep policies moving forward for them. I use my voice and my story to help legislators understand the importance of these issues." – Jen Johnson, CAN member and mother of a Children's Wisconsin patient.

Our Key Advocacy Goals

Children's is dedicated to advocating on behalf of our patients and families with the goal of positively impacting legislation that affects children nationwide. Our main areas of focus are:

  • Improving Medicaid access to high-quality pediatric health care.
  • Preventing injuries and keeping kids safe.

  • Increasing research funding for pediatric medicine.
  • Supporting foster care and adoption.
