Cecostomy
A cecostomy is a surgery that makes an opening in the cecum, which is part of the large intestine. The opening is used to give a special kind of enema, called an antegrade enema, which helps empty stool from the colon by way of the large intestine. This procedure can help avoid bowel accidents in children who have nerve damage in the bowels.
