About your bill
We know your experience with us is not limited to just a clinic visit, counseling session, hospital stay or procedure. The Billing Department is committed to a patient-friendly billing process that helps you with your medical bills.
Children's provides medically necessary health care to people in its geographic service area without regard for their ability to pay. In order to keep this promise, we bill and collect payments from insurance companies and individuals paying on their own (self-pay).
If you or your child was seen in one of our outpatient clinics, your health insurance company may see this appointment charge as a hospital visit instead of a visit to your doctor's office. The charge may be processed according to your hospital benefits.
You will get more than one bill after your clinic appointment. Children's bills for expenses such as clinic staff and supplies. Specialty clinic visits also often include separate charges for procedures and tests done during those appointments. The Medical College of Wisconsin sends out a bill for the doctor or other care provider services.
If your insurance requires a co-payment, we will ask you to pay it at the time of your appointment.
Submitting insurance claims
We will submit your claim and allow your insurance company 30 days to pay us. Your claim may become your responsibility if it has not been paid within 30 days. You will receive monthly statement updates. Read the frequently asked questions >>>
