Overview

Services

Dr. Flynn-O'Brien's singular focus is excellent patient care, and she will treat your child like her own — with respect, empathy, and compassion. She takes a thoughtful and data-driven approach, with particular emphasis on current best practices. She prioritizes listening and communication to ensure patients and families understand the condition and treatment plan and are actively involved in shared decision making. She places great value in multi-disciplinary care, and prefers minimally invasive approaches whenever safe and feasible. An accomplished surgeon scientist, Dr. Flynn-O'Brien trained in general surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle, where she also obtained her Master's of Public Health in epidemiology. She completed her training in general pediatric surgery at Children's Wisconsin, where she is the Associate Trauma Medical Director of the Level I pediatric trauma program. She has a clinical and research focus on pediatric injury (in particular, pediatric trauma, injury prevention, and outcomes after injury), and is core faculty at the Compressive Injury Center, faculty in the Institute for Health and Equity, and a member of the Milwaukee Trauma Outcomes Project.
