Having been a nurse at Children's for over 35 years, I still love coming to work to care for our families. During the first 20 years of my career, working on an infant unit and the NICU, I learned that most families had trouble dealing with a difficult diagnosis received shortly after their baby was born, with very little time to prepare for what was ahead of them. In the prenatal clinic, we strive to prepare our families for the paths that their baby will take once he or she is born. It is never easy to give a family the news that their baby has congenital heart disease but empowering them with as much information as possible will help them cope better with decisions that they will need to make when their baby arrives. I make myself available to families so they know that they can call me anytime with any type of question or concern. Being a nurse at Children's has truly been a blessing for both myself and my family.
