Tami has experience working in multiple different treatment settings and has provided individual therapy, family therapy as well as group therapy. Tami began working in the counseling field with at-risk youth placed in a residential treatment setting in 2004. Tami obtained her Licensed Professional Counselor license in the State of Wisconsin in 2007. Tami began working with families through an in-home therapy program where she worked as a therapist as well as the supervisor of the program from 2011 to 2019.
Tami’s work is driven by compassion and grace for others. Tami is passionate about ensuring clients feel heard and understood in order to feel safe with exploring and sharing their thoughts, feelings and experiences. Tami has years of experience treating trauma as well as relational issues and learning the “why” of our behaviors through the use of both directive modalities such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as non-directive approaches such as Non-Directive Play Therapy. She has experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families who present with histories of trauma and abuse, mood disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), self-harm/suicide ideation, and attachment disruptions. Tami believes that connection to others and the involvement of the family system and natural supports are imperative to therapeutic success and works with clients to develop and involve a natural support system.
