About
My approach to caring for patients and families is grounded in patient-centered, evidence-based, and compassionate care. I recognize that obesity is a complex, chronic disease influenced by biologic, environmental, social, and behavioral factors, and I strive to meet patients and families where they are in their health journey. Through the NEW Kids Program, Lifestyle Medicine Collaborative, and Adolescent Metabolic Bariatric Surgery Program, I have worked to ensure that children, adolescents, and young adults have access to individualized treatment plans that address both obesity and its associated medical conditions.
I believe that successful obesity care requires a partnership between patients, families, and an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. By fostering trust, shared decision-making, and education, I empower patients and families to make informed choices while providing the support and resources needed to achieve sustainable health outcomes. My goal is not only to improve physical health but also to enhance quality of life and reduce the stigma often associated with obesity.
My clinical expertise centers on pediatric and adolescent obesity medicine, with a particular focus on developing and implementing evidence-based clinical programs that improve access to comprehensive obesity care. I have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults with obesity, including those with complex obesity-related comorbidities and multi-organ system involvement.
My areas of interest include interdisciplinary obesity management, lifestyle medicine (which I am board certified), obesity-related disease prevention and treatment, and adolescent metabolic and bariatric surgery evaluation. I am particularly passionate about advancing clinical care models that integrate multiple specialties to provide comprehensive, coordinated treatment for patients with obesity. In addition to direct patient care, I am committed to educating healthcare professionals, supporting clinical program development, and promoting best practices that advance the field of obesity medicine at the institutional, community, state, and national levels.
