Fetal interventions and surgery
The Fetal Concerns Center is the first of its kind in the state that performs in utero interventions for a wide range of conditions:
- Twin reversed arterial perfusion (TRAP)
- Ex-utero intrapartum treatment (EXIT) and immediate postpartum access to cardiac therapies (IMPACT) deliveries
- Vesicoamniotic and thoracoamniotic shunting
- Fetal intrauterine transfusion
Note: Fetal interventions and surgical procedures require a hysterotomy, which is a surgical incision of the uterus. Similar to a classic c-section, patients with a prior hysterotomy carry an increased risk of uterine rupture during childbirth. It is recommended to wait two years between pregnancies and to deliver at 37 weeks.
