Knock-knees

Knock-knees occur when the knees bend inward more than normal from the knees down.

Causes

Knock-knees are often normal in children ages 2 to 7, but in some cases can be caused by disease, injury or obesity.

Treatment

Most often, treatment is not needed for knock-knees. The condition normally will correct itself by the time a child is 6 or 7 years old. The medical provider will want to see your child for an exam if the condition:

  • Remains severe
  • Involves only one leg

Braces or surgery may then be an option.
