Urgent care video visits are intended to treat minor illnesses and injuries. If this is an emergency call 911. Note: We are unable to treat urinary tract infections or ear infections in video visits.

How it works
Urgent care video visits work on your smartphone, tablet or computer. The doctors you video chat with will be able to give a diagnosis, create a care plan and prescribe medications when appropriate. Every video visit is secure, private and HIPAA-compliant. If the doctor feels an in-person visit is required, you will not be charged for the video visit.
Get started in three steps:
1. Get in line for an urgent care video visit
Get in line for an urgent care video visit. If you have a MyChart account for your child, sign in to your MyChart account. Tell us the reason for the visit and then get in line to see an urgent care provider.
Note: if you have a MyChart account, use your smartphone for the best video visit experience. Access MyChart in the Children's Wisconsin app. You will also need the Zoom app available on the App Store or Google Play.
2. Check-in for your video visit before you join with the provider
After you get in line to see an urgent care provider, you must check-in before you can start the video visit. During Check-in, you can make sure your child’s information is up-to-date.
3. Get treatment
After you check-in, click the ‘Begin Visit’ button. You will then be launched into the video visit. If you are using your smartphone device and have not downloaded the Zoom App, it may prompt you to download it from the App Store.

Can I bring my child to a walk-in urgent care clinic instead?
If you would rather not video chat with a doctor, you can instead bring your child to any of our walk-in urgent care clinics located throughout southeast Wisconsin. At each of our urgent care clinics, you can either walk in with no reservation or reserve your spot online ahead of time. Learn more about our walk-in urgent care clinics.
What is the cost and will my insurance cover my child’s urgent care video visit?
Video visits are now covered by most insurance plans.
- In most cases, Children’s can file the claim for you.
- Please make sure your child’s insurance is up-to-date before you check-in for your video visit.
- Urgent care video visits will be billed the same as a standard urgent care visits.

How do I get connected for the urgent care video visit?
We suggest using mobile devices (phones or tablets) to get a good connection to the video visit.
You may be able to connect through a Windows or Mac desktop computer, but you will need a working webcam for the visit.
How long do visits last?
Video visits usually last about 10 minutes. The doctor will connect directly with you and your child.
Will I see my Children’s Wisconsin pediatrician during an urgent care video visit?
Not necessarily. We have a team of Children’s Wisconsin doctors available to treat your child for on-demand care. If your child is already a Children's Wisconsin patient, the notes from their visit will be documented in their existing medical record for their primary care provider to see.
What if my child needs medication?
If your child needs a prescription for the condition being treated, the doctor can send a prescription electronically to the pharmacy you select. He/she can also provide a school/daycare note regarding your child's condition.
For routine medication refills, you should contact your child’s primary care provider.
How do I see a summary of my child’s past urgent care video visit?
A summary of the visit can be found in your child's MyChart account (login here).
If your child is not signed up for MyChart, you will receive an email with the visit summary in the email you listed on file for the visit.
