Our lives are a journey that begins from the moment of our births. Every day is another step in that journey where we experience opportunities to build ourselves into the person we want to be. Like all journeys, there can be obstacles and challenges. We can experience fear, excitement, joy, surprise, happiness, sadness, anger, disappointment, grief, and confusion. It is these experiences that build us into who we want to be and can guide us to where we want to go. In my practice, I support people of all walks of life as they explore themselves on their journey. We can explore changes throughout the life span, challenges with school, relationships (family, friends, and peers), parenting, life changes (moves, sickness, loss, death, and grief), adoption and foster care, experiences of bullying and discrimination, and every other challenge experienced on your journey. I also work to alleviate symptoms from mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and behavioral concerns.

I believe that every individual is unique and I believe in using a person-centered approach to therapy to tailor my technique to meet each and every individual’s needs. I work with children and family to support them in discovering their best selves on their journey and incorporate Cognitive Behavioral techniques, EMDR, talk therapy, art and play activities, as well as behavior modification in my practice. All of this is done using a person centered trauma focused approach.

I studied and received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology at Carroll University and received my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in child and adolescent mental health at Marquette University. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence based trauma therapy. I am also trained as an Adoption Competent Therapist and have a special interest in working with children and families with adoption, graduating from Center of Adoption Support and Education’s (C.A.S.E) Training for Adoption Competency Training. Additionally, I have experience working with schools and the child welfare system. I personally enjoy hiking and camping and enjoy nature. I believe incorporating this into my practice as I believe connecting to the outdoors can provide enjoyment and healing.

I currently do therapy with children, adolescents, and families doing individual and family therapy. Additionally, I have assisted in working with FACE-Kids groups in schools in Dane County as well as CBITS. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC), EMDR trained, and adoption Competent.
