Lead testing

Lead Testing

Lead poisoning happens when kids are exposed to lead in their homes or environments. Blood samples can be tested for lead poisoning for kids with known risk.

No level of lead is safe and lead poisoning is hard to see early on. If lead poisoning occurs, it can cause damage to the brain, learning and behavior problems, speech and hearing problems, and more.

If your doctor has told you that your child needs a lead test, please call or text your primary care office. During this appointment, a blood sample is taken by a nurse or medical assistant, you will not be seeing your child’s primary care pediatrician during this visit. A parent or guardian must be available at the time of the lead test.
