Full-Time Placement
Under the direct supervision of a licensed occupational therapist, physical therapist or speech-language pathologist, the student completes patient care activities related to evaluation, treatment, and care continuity for patient. The student participates in a 9-15 week experience (dependent upon university requirements) with approximately 40 hours per week completed in the clinical setting.
Therapy settings include:
- Outpatient Pediatric Neurodevelopmental Physical and Occupational Therapy
- Outpatient Pediatric Sports Medicine Physical Therapy
- Inpatient Pediatric Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech Language Pathology
- Outpatient Speech Language Pathology with emphasis on Language and/or Feeding
Additional duties may include:
- Completion of patient documentation for co-signature with clinical supervisor.
- Collaboration with school or community providers to maximize patient outcomes.
- Collaboration with multi-disciplinary medical team, school professionals, and community resources to maximize patient outcomes
- Participation on projects for the therapy department.
Practicum Requirements
Qualified applicants will have completed a minimum of one year of graduate school in a program with a signed affiliation agreement with Children’s Wisconsin by the time of initiation of the placement. Physical and Occupational Therapy settings offer only terminal clinical placements when all academic courses are complete.
Available Placements
- Winter (January-March): Full-time position (approximately 40 hours/week)
- Spring (March-May): Full-time position (approximately 40 hours/week)
- Fall (September-November): Full-time position (approximately 40 hours/week)
- Specific hours aligned with and dependent on clinical instructor schedule and availability
- No weekend hours
