Center of excellence

Children's Wisconsin was re-designated as a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE) by the American College of Radiology (ACR). We're only the 3rd pediatric hospital in the country to receive this designation.

As a DICOE facility, the Children's imaging department provides:

• Provides patients with the utmost confidence of receiving today's highest levels of imaging quality, safety, and care
• Offers excellence at multiple levels — the professional staff, technology, policies, and procedures
• Has achieved accreditation by the American College of Radiology in all imaging modalities that we provide
• Has exceeded the standard requirements of accreditation to achieve the designation of Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence from the American College of Radiology
• Has an ongoing process for self-assessment (and improvement) including participation in the ACR Dose Index Registry® and General Radiology Improvement Database

DICOE criteria

To become a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence, the Children's Imaging Department has met the following criteria:

• ACR accreditation in all modalities offered and that ACR provides
• Participation in the ACR Dose Index Registry and General Radiology Improvement Database
• Image Gently® and Image Wisely® pledges
• Comprehensive assessment of quality, safety, procedures, and personnel by an expert ACR survey team in the following areas:

• Governance and personnel
• Facility organization and management
• Physical environment
• Equipment and IT infrastructure
• Radiation and general safety
• Quality management
• Policies and procedures
• Patient rights and medical records
