A palliative care consult is reasonable when any child is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. Any child receiving a medically complex diagnosis could benefit from the palliative care experts being involved in their care team.

Palliative care can be involved with children of any age with a life limiting condition. This may include, but is certainly not limited to, genetic conditions, brain injuries, progressive cancer, metabolic disorders, immunodeficiencies, premature infants, or neurological disorders.
