We believe kids deserve the best, so we try to meet the unique needs of your child and your family. We offer the following services to help with your child's stay at our Fox Valley campus.

Bereavement Program

The Bereavement Program supports families dealing with grief and loss. Free services available to families include:

• Family or individual support
• Grief support groups — available in Fox Valley through the Center for Grieving Children. Call (920) 750-5839.
• Workshops for adults and children — available in Fox Valley during the summer.
• Text for Hope program
• Family memorial programs — available in Fox Valley, second Sunday in November
• Family grief camp
• Grief education and resources

Breastfeeding/lactation services

If you need help with breastfeeding concerns while your child is in the hospital, talk to your child's nurse. Children's has several certified lactation consultants on staff to help you. Private rooms are available for pumping and breast pumps are available in the hospital. Special freezers are also available to store breast milk.

CaringBridge

Set up a free website about your child. This can help parents communicate to friends and families when their child is in the hospital. You can get words of encouragement and support from friends and family in the online "guest book". There is no cost to set up a CaringBridge website for Children' patients and a password can be set up to maintain confidentiality. Families can easily set up their own website from any computer with Internet access.

Child life

A child sees, feels, and hears a lot of new things in the hospital. Child Life specialists help prepare children for procedures and surgery using demonstration, play, distraction, and pain management to explain situations in ways children can understand. Your child's nurse or care provider can arrange a meeting with a child life specialist.

Financial counseling

Financial counselors help with concerns about paying your bill. They can help with questions about Medicaid, insurance and the Affordable Care Act.

Language services

Children's provides face-to-face, telephone, and video-based interpreters for patient families who do not speak English or who have limited speech ability, hearing, or speech issues. We use qualified medical interpreters who have special training and know how to handle sensitive situations. There is no cost to the patient family. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please ask for an interpreter if you feel it will help you understand your child's care.

Any mail received after discharge will be marked "return to sender." We cannot forward or hold patient mail.

Northeast Regional Center Children and Youth with Special Needs

The regional center provides fee and confidential services for children and youth who are less than 22 years of age.

Newspapers

Newspapers are available in the Java Junction coffee shop on the first floor of ThedaCare Regional Medical Center.

Spiritual care

Chaplains are on call and available 7 days a week at all hours. To request a chaplain, ask a nurse or other staff person to have the Chaplain paged.

A chapel is located on the 1st floor of the TheadaCare Regional Medical Center hospital for prayer, meditation, or quiet reflection.

Social work

Social work services is an integral part of the healthcare team. Medical social work services offers:

• Social and emotional support when adjusting to a new diagnosis or chronic illness
• Education on safety and disease-specific concerns
• Help with financial, insurance or community resources
• Support with moving from pediatric to adult health care
• Answers to guardianship questions
• Linking a child's school and healthcare team
• Coordinating services outside of the hospital with a patient's health care team

Social workers help families speak up for their child's healthcare by recognizing their strengths and goals.

There is no charge for social work services to our patients or families.
