Danny Thomas, MD

Danny Thomas

Danny Thomas, MD, serves as Medical Staff President at Children’s Wisconsin, where he is committed to fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, and shared purpose (and the occasional well-timed dad joke). He is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin where he practices pediatric emergency medicine, directs research efforts in the emergency department, and chairs the Pediatric Minimal Risk Committee of the MCW IRB.

An immigrant and proud product of public education, Dr. Thomas earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and completed both his MD and MPH at Northwestern University. He trained in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and remained for fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine, where he discovered both a passion for clinical care and a calling to improve it through research.

His work focuses on improving care for children with concussions and head injuries, emphasizing practical, evidence-informed approaches that meet families where they are. Over the years, he has helped lead studies that shaped clinical guidelines, mentored dozens of learners, and collaborated across disciplines to advance care for children.

Dr. Thomas approaches leadership the same way he approaches medicine—with humility, curiosity, and a commitment to serving others well.

Outside the hospital, he enjoys reading, cooking, and finding unexpected meaning in everyday moments.
