Dr. Shayne Fehr joined Children’s Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) in 2011. He is board-certified in both Sports Medicine and Pediatrics. His fellowship training in Sports Medicine at the University of Colorado was focused on young athletes and also included training in musculoskeletal ultrasound and injections. He is a member of multiple professional sports medicine organizations and presents his research nationally on regular basis. 

Dr. Fehr is an associate professor of Pediatric Orthopaedics at MCW. His position at MCW involves teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in clinic and at sporting events. He has written multiple book chapters and journal articles related to sports medicine and orthopaedics. His practice at the Children’s Wisconsin mainly involves the care young athletes with sports-related injuries, including overuse injuries, sprains/strains, fractures, and concussions. He incorporates musculoskeletal ultrasound into his daily practice and uses ultrasound guidance for injections.

The building was clean and nice. We had a bit of a wait but I do expect that at a doctor visit. The doctor was extremely personable. He was so kind to my child. I felt I could trust him and that she was safe and in good hands. He explained the situation clearly. He laid out my options precisely and I felt in control. The woman who put my daughter's cast on was so wonderful. It was a painful experience for my daughter at the time but she now talks about it with a smile on her face. She received Legos, which made the whole experience so much better. She has been playing with her Legos with pride, as they complimented her being brave and strong during her procedure. I am very happy with the care we received and my daughter loves her cast with the glitter.

The only thing I was confused about and I'm sure I could have asked but I didn't think to, was two doctors came in. Each one at a time and together at the end. Do they work together? Was one learning from the other? Was it so you could bill me for an additional provider? That wasn't explained to me. Other than that, great experience.

Both the athletic trainer (I think his name was Dalton) and Dr Fehr that we saw on this day were top notch. Not only did they take their time with us, they were both super friendly and very knowledgeable. I trusted in their care and would recommend both! Thank you for your help!

Dr Fehr was excellent with explaining everything to my 16 year old daughter and making sure she understood what was being said. Every staff never was polite, helpful and great to work with.

I was very impressed with the knowledge possessed by Dr. Fehr. He was very thorough in his examination and explained everything thoroughly to me and my grandson. His intern was also a valuable asset. He laid out a very good treatment plan.

There is no one I would rather have my children see related to sports medicine injuries or events or orthopedic needs than Dr. SHAYNE FEHR . Absolutely outstanding, beyond a top performer and really addressed all of our needs and was just a very gracious patient. And we do so appreciate that we feel blessed living in an area that we have access to such excellent care. Thank you.
