Clinical effectiveness research
Children's Wisconsin does a great job of caring for all kinds of sick kids. But we're always striving to do better.
What works best, for whom and under what circumstances? Those are the questions that drive clinical effectiveness research. Our research isn't limited to a disease, organ, biological process or any one recognized scientific field. Rather, it incorporates a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines, including basic biomedical, behavioral, and other social sciences.
The Center for Clinical Effectiveness Research stimulates, facilitates and supports high-quality, high-impact clinical effectiveness research at Children's by providing assistance with study design and project coordination, data management, data analysis, grant writing, and mentorship for investigators involved in research in clinical effectiveness.

1. Patient reported outcomes (PROs) research:- Understanding the trajectory of health-related quality of life over time in children with chronic disease
- Determining the impact of therapy on children's PROs Creating innovative methods to assess PROs from home
- Understanding patterns of healthcare utilization
- Testing new models to connect and engage patients in their own care outside of the clinical setting
4. Patient engagement in research – Creating formal ways to involve patients in research as advisers and research team members, allowing them to bring the patient perspective to research studies
