Manometry studies

Manometry studies measure the pressure inside the gastrointestinal tract. Doctors may use different types of manometry studies depending on your child’s symptoms and suspected condition. Esophageal manometry test measures pressure inside the esophagus to show how the muscles are working to swallow foods. Antro-duodenal manometry involves placing a tube inside the stomach and small bowel to measure the contractions in that area, and colonic manometry studies contractions in the large bowel. An anorectal manometry test measures the muscles of the anal canal that help with bowel movements.
