The Children’s Wisconsin board of directors has named Gil Peri as the organization’s new president and CEO, effective August 12, 2024. The announcement follows a national search that began in 2023 after Peggy Troy, who has served in this role for the past 15 years, announced her intention to retire.

“Many exceptionally accomplished and capable candidates from across the country expressed interest in this position, which is a testament to the strength of Children’s Wisconsin’s reputation and the quality of care and services provided,” said Patrick Hammes, chair of the Children’s Wisconsin board of directors and the search committee. “Our board of directors is pleased that we have been able to select a leader who is ideally suited to the needs of the organization and our work on behalf of Wisconsin kids and families. Gil has demonstrated alignment with our aspirational vision of making Wisconsin kids the healthiest in the nation and our strong internal culture that supports Children’s Wisconsin as a great place to work and receive care. His demonstrated ability to build key strategic partnerships with other mission-focused organizations to improve the health and well-being of kids will be invaluable. I am confident Gil is the right individual to lead Children’s Wisconsin, both now and well into the future.”

“It is a tremendous honor to have been named President and CEO of Children’s Wisconsin,” said Peri. “As one of the top pediatric health care systems in the country, Children’s Wisconsin is known for its excellent patient care, innovation, and compassionate teams dedicated to the physical and mental health and well-being of kids and their families. I look forward to working alongside the tremendously talented and dedicated Children’s Wisconsin team and partnering with individuals and organizations across the state who are committed to ensuring all kids have a chance to grow up healthy and happy.”

“I am pleased to welcome Gil to Children’s Wisconsin,” said Peggy Troy, president and CEO of Children’s Wisconsin. “His values, expertise, and strategic vision are perfectly aligned with our organization and where we are headed in the future. Gil has an unwavering commitment to improving whole-child health, and I am confident that he will serve our organization and our community with passion and integrity for years to come.”

Peri has held progressive health care operations and strategy leadership roles over the past 25 years. His most recent position was as president of Riley Children’s Health in Indianapolis, a 485-bed children’s health system that is part of Indiana University Health and the Indiana University School of Medicine. He has also held executive leadership roles at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Children’s Hospital Colorado and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Throughout his career, Peri has been responsible for establishing clear roadmaps that deliver value for patients and families, and providing oversight for complex clinical and business operations. He is known for being an inspiring leader and creating a culture of quality, service, engagement and belonging. Among the many reasons Peri was selected for this role is his demonstrated ability to build key strategic partnerships among organizations with missions focused on improving the health and well-being of kids and families.
