Family resources and support

Children’s Wisconsin in Neenah offers several resources and support services to assist you. Whether you are visiting for a single outpatient appointment, a day in the hospital or an extended inpatient stay in our pediatric or neonatal intensive care units, you have access to support services designed especially for you and your family.

Child life

Going to the hospital or clinic can be scary for children. Child life specialists are available in the hospital to help your child or teen learn about the hospital, understand why they are there and to cope with their hospital stay.

Social work

Our social work staff is available to help patients and their families with social, emotional and financial issues related to an illness or injury.

Bereavement/grief

When the unthinkable happens and a family must endure the heart breaking loss of a child, our Children's Wisconsin staff can put you in touch with our bereavement program coordinator and a local chaplain. The Children’s bereavement program serves families who have experienced the death of a child at the hospital.

NICU Family Host Program

Parents who have had personal experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit volunteer to support families with babies currently being cared for in the NICU. Please ask your nurse if you would like to speak with a NICU family host volunteer.

Family involvement

Parents can help in many ways to improve how Children's Wisconsin cares for children and families. We understand that you know your child better than anyone. We welcome open, ongoing discussions with families. Our goal is to support families in their role as caregiver. In addition, we offer opportunities for families to become involved to improve our care and services by serving on our volunteer-based Family Advisory and Families as Partners committees.

Chaplain

Children’s Wisconsin in Neenah partners with ThedaCare Regional Medical Center chaplains to help you and your family explore and address your spiritual issues, no matter what your faith. To contact a chaplain, call (920) 729-3158.
