Get to know Robert (Jake) Jaquiss, MD, in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery
Robert (Jake) Jaquiss, MD, is a Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Co-Director of the Herma Heart Institute (HHI) at Children’s Wisconsin, Professor of Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and holds the Albert O. Nichols Endowed Chair in Congenital Cardiac Care at Children’s Wisconsin. He also serves as the President of the Congenital Heart Surgeons’ Society, a professional organization dedicated to advancing research and quality improvement in the field of congenital heart surgery.
Dr. Jaquiss joins us from Children’s Medical Center and the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, where he was Professor of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and Co-Director of the Heart Center. During his tenure, he helped elevate the program’s national reputation and cultivated exceptional patient outcomes.
Dr. Jaquiss completed surgery residency and thoracic surgery fellowship at Washington University in St Louis School of Medicine, and then a fellowship in congenital cardiac surgery at St Louis Children's Hospital. Early in his career, Dr. Jaquiss worked at Children’s Wisconsin and partnered with Dr. Jim Tweddell and Dr. Bert Litwin to help develop the Herma Heart Institute into a nationally recognized congenital heart care program. Dr. Jaquiss’ philosophy of care is to treat each patient as he would wish his own children to be treated, with a goal of the happiest, healthiest, and longest life possible.
