Notification of procedural changes for bringing a child to the Children’s Emergency Department and Trauma Center
Effective 6 a.m. on Oct. 12, Children’s will stop accepting patients at our current 87th Street Emergency Department location and start accepting patients in our new space located at the front of the Children’s Wisconsin Milwaukee hospital on Connell Court.
Pediatric ambulance traffic patterns will change - Look for the CHILDREN’S AMBULANCE signs. These signs will direct you to the new ambulance garage, which is accessed from Watertown Plank Road south via West Connell Avenue. View new ambulance route and detailed driving directions.
About the new Emergency Department and Trauma Center
The Emergency Department is expanding from 34 to 48 treatment rooms, including two rooms dedicated to mental and behavioral health needs and two state-of-the-art trauma and resuscitation rooms. Additional space will support advanced imaging capabilities. Other highlights of the new EDTC include:
- Dedicated pediatric ambulance bay
- Dedicated pediatric decontamination area
- Dedicated EMS space
