Maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY)
- MODY includes different uncommon forms of diabetes.
- These usually start in the teen years or early adulthood.
- MODYs limit the body’s ability to make insulin, but it is not the same as type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes.
How is it treated?
- MODY is sometimes treated with insulin, but some forms can also be managed with medicine you can take by mouth.
- Your child will meet with a diabetes doctor and the team every 3 months to help make a plan to manage their blood sugars.
