Gender Health Clinic
What is the Gender Health Clinic?
- The Gender Health Program offers support to children with gender identity development and transition concerns.
- We provide resources to support many aspects of life as a transgender child.
- We provide emotional and social support, as well as medical support through hormone therapy.
How do we get an appointment?
Please fill out our intake form and send to us via mail or fax. Please see back page of form for mailing and faxing details.
- You will receive a call from our Gender Health Clinic nurse to set up an appointment for your child.
What should we expect at clinic visits?
- At your first clinic visit, you will see endocrinology and psychology.
- This appointment will take about two hours.
- We will ask more questions about your child’s past health and may do a physical exam if the provider feels it is needed. The team may ask your child to give some blood for tests. This is to help make decisions about their care.
- The Gender Health Clinic asks families to be equal partners in the discussion and next steps for your child. We will ask for your thoughts and opinions.
Can we start hormones at the first visit?
- No, our clinic does not start any hormone therapies at the first visit.
- The decision to start hormones is determined by your health care team, your mental health provider and legal guardians.
