Pancreatic stimulation
This is an endoscopic procedure used to diagnose evaluate how the pancreas is functioning, and check for pancreatic insufficiency. Your child will be given general anesthesia. While asleep, your child will be given hormones through an IV that make the pancreas secrete fluid. The doctor will insert a scope through your child’s mouth into the small intestine, where he or she will collect the pancreatic fluid so the enzymes can be measured.
