Neuroradiology and neurointerventional radiology
Pediatric Neuroradiologists are highly specialized physicians who use their detailed medical knowledge to interpret and supervise the performance of images of the brain, eye, ear, nose and throat, as well as neck and spine studies in children. Because the different structures being evaluated by pediatric neuroradiologists are so tiny (particularly in infants and small children) doing the required imaging involves fine detail compared to examinations done in other parts of the body and in adults. We have the diagnostic tools needed at Children's Wisconsin; they will be described in the following passages in this section.
We have a highly experienced and fully credentialed group of pediatric neuroradiologists who work closely with and provide great teamwork with their clinical pediatric colleagues. In particular, those in Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology, Neurology, Craniofacial surgery, Neuro-oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Endocrinology, Genetics, Infectious Disease, Neonatology, Emergency and Critical care, and Dermatology, as well as others. We at Children’s are proud to offer expert individualized care to children by covering the entire range of conditions seen by these physicians. Further, we are able to accomplish top results by reviewing the condition of each and every child during regularly held meetings . In addition, we provide excellent diagnoses by using state of the art advanced imaging techniques, including 3 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI, PET/CT, minimally invasive neurointerventional procedures, Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound (TCD), as well as other methods. Our ongoing dedication to pediatric care has also led to grant funded research that has furthered our ability to improve our diagnostic potential and ensure your child's safety.
