What we do
When your child is in pain/has a headache, it's easy to feel helpless. Pain can affect every aspect of life for both the child and the family. That is why we are here to help with managing everyday life in light of this pain. We dedicate our practice to serving children and offering the best, most compassionate care available. When a child is brought to Children's, the family is a valued member of the care team. You know your child best and we work with you to develop a pain management plan that will provide the greatest benefit.
How we go the extra mile
Although it may not be possible to take away all of the pain, we will do everything possible to minimize it. In addition to using pain medicine when appropriate, we will help your child cope with discomfort by using non-medication interventions, such as relaxation, distraction, and cognitive behavioral techniques. You can count on us to do everything we can for your child. For example:
- Measure your child's pain based on his or her level of understanding
- Support you, as parents, in your role as part of our pain team
- Give information about pain and pain management choices and work with you to develop a plan to relieve your child's pain
