Services

James J. Nocton, MD, is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a Pediatric Rheumatologist at Children’s Wisconsin. He has been on the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics of MCW for 18 years and in addition to his interests in caring for children with rheumatic diseases, he has a strong interest in medical education. He is a previous director of the pediatric residency training program and is the current director of the pediatric rheumatology fellowship training program. Dr. Nocton is board certified in general pediatrics and in pediatric rheumatology. He has been a previous Chair of the Midwest Region of the Association of Pediatric Program Directors, and has served two terms on the Executive Committee of the Section on Rheumatology of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has helped to develop a number of new curricula for medical students and residents within the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Dr. Nocton has published peer-reviewed articles in medical education and in pediatric rheumatology, including authoring three editions of the resident handbook “On Call: Pediatrics.” Dr. Nocton has won the department’s teaching award as the outstanding teacher of students three separate times and as the outstanding teacher of residents once. He was elected by the MCW students to the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary society and is also a member of the MCW Society of Teaching Scholars.
