Wisconsin teen driving law
Wisconsin's Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) law protects new drivers from risks while they develop experience on the road. Car crashes are one of the leading causes of death in teenagers. According to Wisconsin Department of Transportation, in Wisconsin alone, every three hours a teen is injured or killed in a crash. The Graduated Driver Licensing law reduces the risk by making sure teens gradually build driving experience with supervision before getting their licenses and restricting driving after they are licensed.
Wisconsin's GDL is broken down into three phases that include: Instruction Permit, Probationary License and Regular License. GDL helps keep all drivers safe by limiting nighttime driving for new drivers, restricting teen passengers and ensuring teens get quality, supervised practice hours behind the wheel.
