Our program
Celiac Disease is a permanent condition in which the immune system inappropriately reacts to gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye and barley. The Celiac Disease Clinic at Children's Wisconsin is focused on helping to identify, treat, and support your family with this condition.
Our approach to celiac disease
The Bonnie Lynn Mechanic Celiac Disease Clinic at Children's Wisconsin offers a comprehensive celiac management program. The clinic is led by Ankur Chugh, MD a well-known expert in Celiac Disease. Our interdisciplinary team includes a pediatric gastroenterologist and dietitian who specialize in treating this condition and will work together to ensure your child gets the best care possible.
Some children and families struggle with the lifestyle changes required by Celiac Disease. If your child is having trouble adhering to the diet or is depressed or anxious as a result of it, we may refer your child to a psychologist for cognitive behavior therapy.
