Clinical trials

As one of the nation's top-ranked pulmonary care programs, the Pulmonary Medicine program at Children's Wisconsin also works to advance research on conditions ranging from asthma to cystic fibrosis to sleeping problems.

Patients can get involved in this important work by volunteering for one of our clinical studies, which can help us test the effectiveness of potential new therapies or better understand what causes pediatric breathing issues. Families can rest assured knowing that the Institutional Review Board carefully reviews every clinical study to make sure it is safe and ethical.

Our Cystic Fibrosis care center has a vast research program, including clinical and translational studies. Since 2009, we have been part of a nationwide network of designated CF clinical research centers. This network specializes in conducting clinical trials to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of new CF therapies. Our program includes nationally recognized NIH funded faculty research investigating the genetic variations of cystic fibrosis, as well as multi-center therapeutic clinical trials.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation understands that patients and families who enroll in research studies truly are the key to discovering new treatments for CF. Our center is proud to offer our patients the opportunity to participate in research studies, and is grateful for the invaluable contributions they have made to the advancement of CF care.

You can find a list of all CF research studies here.

Some of the requirements to enter each study are listed under the study names. Your doctor can help you determine if are eligible. If you have any questions contact your Children's CF Research Team or (414) 266-6986.
