Conditions we diagnose and treat
Pulmonary specialists at Children's Wisconsin diagnose and treat many lung problems and symptoms, including:
- Apnea
- Asthma - a chronic, inflammatory disease of the airways. Several things happen to the airways when a child is exposed to certain triggers:
- The lining of the airways become swollen and inflamed
- Muscles that surround the airways tighten
- Mucus production increases.
All of these factors will cause the airways to narrow, making it more difficult to breathe.
