The Milwaukee experience

Milwaukee, with a metropolitan community of 1.4 million, is the largest city in the State of Wisconsin and the 31st most populous city in the United States. Nestled along a magnificent bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, the scenic city is known for its festivals, friendly people, and affordability.  It is home to botanical gardens, a world class symphony orchestra, museums, a ballet company, a theater district, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Milwaukee Brewers, and many fine restaurants.

Milwaukee is the home to the international headquarters of 6 Fortune 500 companies and the metropolitan area ranks 5th in the United States in term of the number of Fortune 500 company headquarters as a share of the population.  

Milwaukee is a popular venue for Lake Michigan sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, ethnic dining and cultural festivals.  Often referred to as the City of Festivals, Milwaukee has various cultural events that take place throughout the summer. A recent study ranked Milwaukee as the 15th most walkable of the fifty largest US cities.

Milwaukee is home to a wide variety of museums and venues for the performing arts. Milwaukee is also home to a many sports teams: Milwaukee Brewers, Bucks, Admirals, Bavarians, and Wave. Milwaukee County is also known for its “Grand Necklace of Parks” totaling 140 which offer picnic facilities, grilling, disc golf and ice skating.

Milwaukee has one of the highest per capita student populations in North America, ranking 6th among US and Canadian cities in number of college student per 100 residents.

Milwaukee’s health care industry includes several health systems. The Milwaukee Regional Medical Complex includes the Children’s Wisconsin, Froedtert Hospital, Blood Center of Wisconsin, the Ronald McDonald House, Curative Rehabilitation and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
