Training

What are the training requirements at Children’s Wisconsin?

Children's Wisconsin Human Research Protection Program requires individuals involved in the design, conduct, or review of human subject research overseen by Children's IRB to have current human subject research protections training. This includes any individual involved in the research and is listed as part of the study team. Research reviewers are required to have the same training. Children's Wisconsin utilizes the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program to provide such training.

For more information, please refer to our local guidance and SOPs page and review the human subjects research training requirements local guidance.

How do I know which CITI training modules to complete?

Children's Wisconsin HRPP recommends completing the learner group 3 and good clinical practice modules if you may be involved in both biomedical and social behavioral research.

Alternatively, you may complete the biomedical research learner group and good clinical practice, or social behavioral learner group if you will only be participating in those types of research respectively.

How do I change my affiliated institution and transfer previously completed CITI training?

Note: To access the appropriate modules, users must affiliate with the Medical College of Wisconsin within their CITI program account (not Children's Wisconsin).

  1. Visit the CITI Program website and log into your account. Click, My Profiles to edit your profile as needed.
  2. On the main menu page, click Affiliate with Another Institution. Enter, Medical College of Wisconsin as your organization, and click Next. Provide the requested information for the registration process.
