Christopher Spahr, MD
Chief Quality and Safety Officer
Dr. Chris Spahr has been Chief Quality Officer since 2015. In this role, he provides leadership and oversight of an enterprise-wide program of quality, safety, and overall performance improvement. His primary functions include the prioritization and execution of strategically important clinical and operational improvement initiatives and management of the infrastructure and teams to support them. He is passionate about the primary outcomes of the program; to enhance learning across the organization and integration of improvement efforts across the continuum of care.
In addition to his role as Chief Quality Officer, Dr. Spahr also serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Medical College of Wisconsin, and is a practicing emergency medicine physician. He has been providing outstanding emergency care to children and their families for over 15 years, with a practice focused on the specialized care of our most critically ill and injured children.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Spahr served as the Division Chair of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Mayo Clinic and as the Associate Medical Director of Emergency Services at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. In these roles, he developed his strong interest and skills in quality improvement, leading to several projects that improved the care of children in the emergency department.
Dr. Spahr earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Chicago and Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
