Program services

  • Supportive services that take place in the family's home or community location that is convenient for the family
  • Offer routine screening for child development and maternal depression
  • Provide education of healthy childhood growth and development
  • Offer support to strengthen nurturing parent-child relationships

Program eligibility

Participation is voluntary and free. Contact the local community services office below for specific eligibility criteria.

Program benefits

Home visiting programs offer the following resources and tools to program participants:

  • Weekly home visits the first 3 months
  • Prenatal and Child Development education
  • Education about protective factors (parental resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, social/emotional competence of children, and identifying network support)
  • Preventive care reminders, medical home referrals, immunizations, well-baby checks

Home visiting uses an evidence-based model that is:

  • Family-centered
  • Culturally sensitive
  • Strength-based
  • Promoting of positive child development and early school readiness
