Year 1 intern details:
- Currently enrolled in the 1st year of a respiratory therapy program.
- Maintains, cleans and prepares equipment and supplies for patient care.
- Restocks equipment and supplies to maintain appropriate levels.
- Performs a variety of support functions as needed by the respiratory department.
- Assists the hospital with patient safety initiatives such as the “sitter program” which observes patients to maintain a safe environment.
Year 2 intern details:
- Currently enrolled in the 2nd year of a respiratory therapy program.
- Provides quality respiratory care to pediatric through adult patients in an acute care and emergency department setting in accordance with established policies and procedures under the supervision of a respiratory care practitioner.
- Explains procedures and treatments to patient.
- Performs medication administration via aerosol and MDI. Utilizes PEP/PAP devices, therapy vest, IPV machine, and cough assist devices.
- Performs miscellaneous delegated tasks as necessary.
- Shadow opportunities in PICU and NICU are available as time allows.
- Assists the hospital with patient safety initiatives such as the “sitter program” which observes patients to maintain a safe environment.
